RAZVAN LUNGU
Razvan is the most recent addition to the Gadgets team and is currently enjoying a fresh, dynamic working environment that caters to most of his hobbies.
His view on gadgets is that they provide the comfort of communication and entertainment wherever and whenever one desires and that by evolving technology we are in fact erasing the limits of mobility and are providing new meanings to the term "multimedia".
Aside IT-related hobbies (you can catch up on those by following on his articles), he likes rollerblading while listening to music, relaxing fishing sessions and spending times with his friends.

The holiday shopping spree is always a bad thing. Things can never go right. Plus, most men never really like going out shopping unless it's for electronics and stuff. But the worst part of the entire holiday shopping season is the moment when you get home and start going through the receipts. That's painfu... |

I have to say that the idea of a digital watchdog seems a bit weird. I am a dog lover myself, and having such a "cold" replacement for a loving pet doesn't feel right. But the truth is that the Electronic Watchdog isn't meant to replace a loving pet, but more like a ferocious guardian. The device comes in ... |

I bet there are only a handful of teenagers who haven't yet gone through the challenging experience of retaining a friend's instant messaging ID. It usually goes like: “Do you use Yahoo Messenger?” “Yeah, my ID is oooaiis77ff7d0ti4@yahoo.com”. Now that's a tough one to remember,... |

Do you remember those fancy watches we used to see in Sci-Fi movies or those James Bond gadgets? Well, it seems like those directors were right about their assumptions, because LG have just announced their LG-GD910 3G wrist watch. This is actually Korea's first 3G wrist watch and it's bound to start some hy... |

Peter Aloisson is on a roll with mobile phones lately. I don't know if companies contract him in order to advertise their phones, or the guy just enjoys customizing these gadgets (and making money), but the truth is that these kind of customization processes really make people curious. Even those who will probab... |

Concept computers have always offered us exotic designs and features. Touch sensitive displays and interface controls will always catch people's attention (at least until they become mainstream). I mean, look at how successful the iPhone has turned out to be, mostly because of its touch control. A designer (pre... |

The guys who invented Scrabble made up their minds to create a 60'th anniversary Scrabble board, which is meant to be part of the most luxurious scrabble set ever made. The unique Diamond Anniversary Edition comes with a one of a kind glass board encrusted with approx. 30.000 Swarovski crystals. Building the boa... |

One of these days I'll have to go hunting with one of these filthy-rich, expensive luxury phones designers/jewelers. I'm gonna call it “Rich Hunting Fun Day”. I bet that holding Peter Aloisson at gun point will surely convince him to drop the price on his new 2,5 million (VAT not included) USD i... |

Blu-ray has turned out to be the winner of the HD format war. Sony has invested a lot of money to make sure that Blu-ray comes out the winner. Imagine how it would have looked if the most advertised feature of the PS3 would have gone down the drain. Sony would have been left out to dry with an expensive and somewhat ... |

You've heard about the “One Laptop Per Child” program, didn't you? It was meant to provide underdeveloped countries with cheap, reliable and portable computing solutions in order for unprivileged kids to catch a glimpse of what computers and the modern world can achieve together. As it is more ... |

Charging your mobile phone is always a critical process. No charging, no power, no power, no phone. So, putting the obvious aside, let's see what problems appear as far as charging one's mobile phone is concerned. Well, the first problem regards the use of wires. I know, dumb problem, but I hate wires. Trus... |

Ben Heck's new Xbox 360 Mod can only be considered a part of the “Oops, I did it again” trend. I don't know how or why this guy does all these mods, but they made him famous (at least among gamers, that is). It's really nothing new in just how one's hobby can push him/her to create int... |

Do you ever get frustrated by tangling ear buds? I know I do, and no one thinks about this as a problem. And if they do, they certainly haven't come up with a good solution, at least up until now, that is. It seems that Julie Johnson Barkley became sick and tired of always having to untangle her ear buds, and ha... |

PMPs were a rare thing 3 years ago. And even when you found one that could bare the burden of an PMP (A.K.A. MP3 player with video file support), its video support and features were a nice try, but far from what they are today. Don't even get me started on the screen size issue. Well, years passed and now Ramos... |

You know how certain companies like to copy other ones' mice like there's no tomorrow? No? Well, trust me, some copied every inch of the MX500 when it was popular (just to give an example). However, they aren't the only ones to go by the slogan “copy, copy, copy”. It looks like Visual Land,... |

Have you ever heard of Genius? For those of you who haven't, I'll just inform you that they are a more or less well-known manufacturer of PC peripherals, dealing with all kinds of scanners, mice, webcams, audio equipment and pen tablets. Although the company may have left at least some of these categories b... |

Although I would never rely on some digital gadget to save my life, it looks like two tourists were just saved by an MP3 player. I know it seems like a little far-fetched, especially considering the fact that the actual saving was done by the Rega mountain rescue team, but the truth is that, if it weren't for th... |

Nintendo hasn't been too generous with news releases over the past month. Actually, all we hear lately is how Wii's sales continue to trash the competition. This was fun for Wii owners at some point, but personally, I'm getting kind of tired of it. Anyway, in order to splash on some holiday news for t... |

I don't know what Santa got you for Christmas, but I bet it wasn't a Team Group 4GB Diamond thumb drive. But if I happen to be wrong, you can still take advantage of the New Year's eve party and “equip” yourself with one of these little babies. Team Group has decided to create something sp... |

Everyone has special needs, especially in the gadget world. That's one of the reasons why there are so many gadgets around, so we can choose exactly what we need, what we want and what we like. The notebook market has really exploded over the past 5 years. They have become such a popular choice that most people who are upgrading their desktops these days are thinking of replacing them with a notebook. And it makes sense in a way. Nobody needs a big tower taking space and generating heat while eating up watt... |

I know that all we now call IT has greatly evolved over the past 10 years, but I have to admit that the clearest progress might be attributed to PC monitors, because it's also the most visible one. Companies like Samsung and LG deserve a great deal of respect for pushing the LCD technology to its limits. But as... |

Tracking the company that began the secondary display trend is not exactly a very easy task, although Samsung was one of the first to offer such a product. But anyway, despite of who really started it in the first place, it's still debatable whether these things are of any value or not. The thing is, Century Ja... |

When it comes to combat titles, gamers tend to have different preferences as far as the control systems are concerned. I was very found of the keyboard because of all the early Mortal Kombat titles I used to play on the PC as a kid. Quite recently, LaCie released a revamped version of its Ethernet Disk. This is a NAS (Network Attached Storage) solution which can reach a capacity of up to 6TB in a 1U 19-inch rack. Netbooks are very popular these days and for a good reason, too. Most people don't require powerful computing machines with dual core processors and tons of RAM. Nowadays, everything is about going wireless. Cables are old and annoying, and nobody wants to have anything to do with them. But the thing is, you also need security. The dawn of the age of digital photo frames is here and since companies are releasing new and improved devices every month now, it looks like users really enjoy them.
