Humminbird is one of the world's best-known manufacturers of various accessories designed especially for sea navigation and fishing, including here a fairly wide range of sonars and sonar-based fish-finders. And this is exactly the type of product we'll talk about as follows, namely the Matrix 97 Sonar, which offers users several advanced features at a more or less fair price tag.
One of the most important components of the Matrix 97 Sonar is represented by the DualBeam PLUS sonar with up to 4000 Watts PTP power output, which is capable of delivering a very wide range of functions and features. The device also sports a 500-W RMS power output, as well as some pretty interesting imaging-related features: 200 kHz / 20 degree @ -10db, 83 kHz / 60 degree @ -10db, and a maximum functioning depth of around 1500 feet (457 meters).
Furthermore, the product supports several different optional network modules, including here WeatherSense (optional), CannonLink (optional), InterLink (optional) and Wireless Sonar Link (also optional).
Other important features and functions worth mentioning are the freeze frame function with ability to mark structure on sonar, instant image update, real time sonar RTS window, selective Fish ID, sonar echo enhancement, sonar recording, sonar snapshot, split screen zoom, TrueArch technology and wide narrow cone split screen.
Moreover, some of the other functions delivered by the device from Humminbird are represented by the custom view selections, large digits view, selectable background, temperature alarm, temperature graph, triplog, etc.
Quite obviously, such a product required a display to match its interesting features. For this reason, the Matrix 97 Sonar features a 5.6-inch TFT LCD display, which delivers images in 4:3 aspect modes and at a 320 x 240 pixels resolution (256 colors).
The Matrix 97 Sonar can be found at various retailers for around 600 – 750 US dollars, which is not that bad a price range, given the features and specs this device can provide. |
