Although most newly-launched devices come packed with their own rechargeable, built-in Li-Ion batteries, there are still quite a lot of products out there that still require “classical” AA's, as for example digital cameras, photography lights, flashlights, etc. And this is exactly the reason why the people over at Maha Energy / Powerex launched back in November 2007 the Imedion line of rechargeable batteries, whose most important selling point is represented by their capacity to retain power for very long periods of time.
Thus, according to the manufacturer's statement, the Imedions can be stored for an extended period of time without substantial loss of power, as they're capable of retaining up to 85% of charge after one year of storage. Furthermore, in order to make things even easier for the user, the batteries come pre-charged and ready to use out-of-the-package.
The new batteries from Maha / Powerex boast quite a high capacity, of around 2100mAh (NiMH chemistry). This makes them very suitable for high-drain devices, as for example digital cameras and portable gaming consoles, and are capable of generating 1.2V. Furthermore, they can be recharged for over 1,000 times, which means that the users will keep them around for quite an extensive period of time.
The Imedion's are available (for the time being) just in AA format, measuring around 14.4mm (diameter) x 50.5mm (height) and can be recharged with just about any type of compatible recharger. They also come with an includes carrying set and a set of four retails for just around 14 US dollars, which is quite an affordable price to pay for these “next-gen” AAs. |
