Do you have lots of mobile devices, and you want to get rid of all those wires and chargers, but you also want to replace them with a device that will fit with the classical furniture in your home? Well you can solve that problem with a little intuition, since if you have enough furniture in your house you will also have enough space to hide the cables. However, the people over at Frontgate seem to have found a better method, namely the Mahogany Charging Station, released back in the first half of 2006.
As its name says, this is a classical charging station with a mahogany finish, thus having both an elegant and a functional look, especially if you have furniture that matches the color and finish of the charging station. Regarding the practical aspects, a lot of things can be said about it, but probably the best thing is that it discreetly hides power cords. That's quite good, especially since no one likes cables that simply lie around and can get in your way as you're dusting the furniture.
The bottom storage drawer eliminates clutter and there are even some extra compartments where you can keep items such as keys, jewelry and everything else you might find useful. Unfortunately, this is where practical aspects end, since this charging station actually offers no improvements compared to a standard power outlet.
OK, maybe you like mahogany finish and you'll even put the drawers to good use, but what about the charging part? Inside the casing you will actually find a classical outlet where you can plug in all your cellphone/laptop/PDA chargers. Besides that and the fact that it's also a furniture item, this object has no other advantages over the plain-looking outlet.
And it's definitely not worth the $149 unless you really want a "charging station" that looks similar to your furniture. |
