Solar power is considered to be one of the best alternative power solutions available, as it can supply a relatively steady flow of power to a wide range of consumers, from entire residential units to various handheld devices. And this is also the reason why the people from SunForce have launched their 1.8 watt battery maintainer, a device designed to make sure that the battery installed on the user's vehicle will always remain charged at an optimum level.

The 1.8 watt battery maintainer provides a very good level of versatility, as it woks with quite a wide range of batteries, including here car, SUV’s, boat, ATV, and PWC batteries. Moreover, it's very easy to install, as it mounts on the windshield with the help of the included suction cups and connects to the car's cigarette lighter (via the included alligator battery clamps) in order to constantly keep the battery at an optimum level.

Another important feature of the battery maintainer from SunForce is the fact that it protects the battery against natural battery discharge, and the device works right out of the box, providing power even through windows or windshields, in any type of weather. Moreover, the device presented by SunForce solar has been engineered in order to maintain the power of the 12V starting battery, and in order to do so it provides a power level of around 125 mAH (1.8W).

The device is made out of durable ABS plastic and includes amorphous solar panels, which contain no cells per say but are created rather through a deposition process which actually forms the silicon material directly on the glass substrate. The silicon film is what gives amorphous panels the "thin-film" nick name, and it features a laser pattern that interconnects instead of physical connecting tabs which eliminates a mechanical connection that can break down and fail. The amount of silicon used in this process produces a film, which is often up to 100 times thinner than that of a polycrystalline cell. Furthermore, amorphous type solar cells are better at generating electricity in all lighting conditions.

The 1.8 watt battery maintainer presented by SunForce retails for around 24 US dollars at various outlets, which is quite an acceptable price to pay for such a versatile and ultimately very useful device.
