Solar power is increasingly important for mankind's future, as it will probably represent, at some point, the main (and only) available source of energy. This is the reason why the number of manufacturers who come up with various sun-powered devices is also increasing, one such company being ICP Solar, who has released over time quite an extensive line-up of solar chargers, including the Sunsei Solar Charger SE-400.
The main function of the SE-400 is to keep a car's (RV's, van's, tractor's, etc.) battery charged even where there's no “normal” source of power at hand. Moreover, the battery is in no danger of draining, since the device protects it against natural battery discharge, and the device works right out of the box, providing immediate trickle-charge as soon as it's exposed to sunlight, even through windows or windshields.
The device presented by ICP solar has been engineered in order to maintain the power of the 12V starting battery, and provides a power level of around 400mA, 15V (6W). Moreover, it's completely “plug and play”, so to say, as it can be installed just about anywhere with the help of the provided suction cups or by using a couple of bolts and O-rings, and connecting several panels in a series is also quite an easy task.
The solar charger also sports a touch-action indicator that lets the users know whenever the panel is charging and doesn't occupy too much space around the car, as it measures just around 37.5 cm x 36.0 cm x 2.6 cm, at a weight of 1.5 kilograms.
The Sunsei Solar Charger SE-400 retails for around 90 US dollars, which is still quite a fair price to pay for a device that will help users get out of a lot of nasty situations. |
