The number of portable devices per user capita has skyrocketed during the past few years, and the same applies for their power requirements. However, since the number of users who simply forget to recharge their portable electronics is quite high, the iGo company has launched in the first half of 2007 the iGo powerXtender, a device that can provide some extra-functioning time for a wide range of devices, albeit it uses just 2 AA batteries in order to do so.
One of the main selling points of the iGo powerXtender is the fact that it works with a very wide range of devices. Thus, it comes with interchangeable power tips that allow users to power multiple gadgets with a single charger, and can be used for bringing a little bit more battery life to mobile phones, Bluetooth headsets, smartphones/PDAs, MP3 players, portable gaming devices, digital cameras and more.
And we're not talking about just a few minutes of talking or listening to music. Thus, the device can attain up to 10 hours of talking, 20 hours of playing and 28 hours of listening to music, all of these by using just 2 AA batteries which can simply be replaced when depleted. The device generates an output voltage of 4.2 – 6 VDC and has an output power of up to 5 watts continuous. However, the value of the output current values, but can attain a maximum of 800mA.
Another very important feature of the iGo powerXtender is the fact that the device is very portable, actually as portable as the handhelds its supposed to charge. Thus, the device from iGo measures just around 94.44 mm x 48.26 mm x 26.61 mm, which makes it one of the smallest such devices available on the market.
The iGo powerXtender retails for around 16 US dollars, which is quite a small price to pay for a device that will keep one's portable devices running for extended periods of time. |
