Watchmaking is one of the fields that the tech savvy are constantly trying to upgrade. And they have a very high rate of success in doing so, considering the fact that there are only few companies left to produce watches that won't look like miniature spaceships or hyalin metallic structures.
One such company is Audemars Piguet, which, not only that likes to keep its products true to traditional manufacturing, but also uses a certain refinement when doing so that is not very common among watchmakers today. Probably its most impressive pieces are those that combine the “haute horologerie” with the “haute joillerie”, like in the case of the Coup de Theatre jewelry timepiece.
The Coup de Theatre is an exquisite jewelry set from the Audemars Piguet Haute Joaillerie workshop. It is a timeless piece, indeed. The gorgeous watch is made in 18k white gold and the rectangular shape is adorned with diamonds. The dial is also paved with brilliant-cut diamonds.
The company has definitely reached its target, of letting people mesmerized when looking at it, and checking the time has never seemed so beautiful. The movement is the hand-wound AP caliber 2046 with 18 jewels, beating at 21,600 bph and with a power reserve of 42 hours.
All parts are decorated by hand with a circular-grained plate, bridges are rhodium-plated, bevelled, snailed and adorned with “Cotes de Geneva” finish.
The strap, in 18kt white gold, is semi-rigid, set with 853 brilliant-cut diamonds of varying diameters and free pendant diamonds (total weight of 123 carats). The choker is 18kt white gold with 1,673 brilliant-cut diamonds of varying diameters and free pendant diamonds (total weight of 204 carats).
The Coup de Theatre is so lovely with the frosty shimmer, there is no way one can peel their eyes from it. There's no price tag on this wonderful piece yet, but whatever that turns out to be, it will definitely dig a large hole into your pockets. |
