Since 1986, Antec has maintained its position as one of the leaders in power and enclosure solutions for today's personal computers. With a solid line of chassis build with quality and performance in mind the company was among the first to start the “silent computing” trend at a time when manufacturers bundled more and more loud fans with their chassis.
As most chassis manufacturers, Antec also produces a line of media accessories designed primarily to be used as add-ons to their cases. Such a device is the Multimedia Station Premiere; a dual 5.25” bay mountable control panel which houses a simple LCD display and an IR sensor. The LCD is used to display various information like e-mail status, volume level or system information, while the IR sensor is used to receive signal from the bundled remote control.
The remote control comes with a sleek black design and allows users to set the volume, change different system settings, and browse the Internet by using the simple to use Thumb Pad Mouse controller. This is actually something like a directional pad which substitutes a standard mouse (why not just buy wireless?).
As you might have considered, the device is used to transform your everyday PC into a full blown multimedia center. And this would not be possible without some sort of software to work with the Multimedia Station. As so, the device comes bundled with iMEDIAN software which allows for almost any media format by the use o internal codecs. It also comes with Full HD support and can be tun on any version of Windows Vista or XP (tough for Linux folks I guess) . So if you have a Full HD TV you're in business.
The whole panel looks very professional a dark black look, a few nice touches of blue on the LCD and a few control buttons, all laid out in audio station like design.
With an average price of $149.99, might make some users happy if they want to transform their PC into a multimedia machine. |
