Cooler Master is one of the world's best-known manufacturers of power supplies, cooling systems and various other accessories for PCs, and, similar to some of its competitors, also has a gaming dedicated branch, called CM Storm. In January 2009, CM Storm has introduced the Storm Sniper PC chassis, a computer case built using the company's Storm Tactics design concept and providing just about every major feature hardcore gamers would ever want.
The Sniper is a M/B Type Micro-ATX/ATX case, manufactured out of steel, ABS plastic and featuring a mesh bezel. It's a pretty large and heavy piece of equipment, since it measures 566.6 mm x 254.6 mm X 551 mm, at a weight of around 10.6 kilograms. It features 5 exposed 5.25-inch bays , as well as 5 hidden 3.5-inch bays and an exposed one.
The Storm Tactics design mentioned above abides to three major issues: Strength, Security and Control. The first, strength, is related to the amount of cooling power the case can provide, which is absolutely impressive. Hence, the Sniper features one 200x30mm Blue LED fan (500 - 1000rpm, 17 - 23 dBA) installed on the top side, accompanied by another similar cooling unit in the front side. Furthermore, on the rear side, there's also an 120x25mm standard fan (1200rpm, 17 dBA), while the device also supports the addition of another 140mm/120 mm fan with dust filter on the bottom, plus either one 200x30mm fan or 2 x 120x25mm fans on the side. The second issue is related to Security. Hence, the device features a very innovative security system, called Storm Guard, which locks all the peripherals connected to it, thus preventing any theft attempt.
Last, but certainly not least, the CM Storm Sniper case offers users a high level of control over the cooling system and all the additional accessories, including the lights and the fans.
Beside all of the features mentioned above, it's also important to mention that the Sniper also sports several connectivity options on the side, such as 4 USB 2.0 ports, an IEEE1394 (FireWire) port, one eSATA interface, plus one microphone input and one HD Audio+AC’97 output.
The Cooler Master Storm Sniper PC case is available online for around 180 US dollars, which is quite a decent price point, especially given the fact that, after all, we're dealing with a gaming-grade product, after all.
