On October the 2nd Dell - one of the leading computer and LCD manufacturers - updated their business LCD line with two new models. The E2009W is a 20 inch widescreen panel with a sleek black design that integrates at a glance with business environments.
The new comer brings a high resolution of 1680 x 1050, which means it is beyond HD Ready, but not quite Full HD. The display aspect ratio is 16:10 as most PC LCD monitors and provides a 5 ms response time. Monitor contrast is on the plus side with a 1000:1 effective ratio (no dynamic contrast misleading).
Connectivity is made available with VGA and DVi connectors, and HD users will ne glad to know that the product features HDCP (high definition content protection) decoding through the DVi connection. So if you have a HDCP graphic card and a system that can playback BluRay movies you are in business.
The Dell E2209W is E2009W`s bigger brother and comes with a 22 inch panel but sports the exact same specifications as the 20 inch model.
Dell also wants users to know that the new monitors use halogen-free laminates which allow the company to label them as Eco-Friendly. Over 25% of the case material is recycled plastic, a process that helps reduce environmental problems.
The two models come with power cord, VGA cable and a CD with user guide and documentation. It`s a bit disappointing that Dell decided not to include a DVi cable since a digital connection provides the best possible image and other LCD providers have been packing them for quite some time now. A DVi cable would also make monitor calibration a thing of the past.
The products can be found at Dell`s website with a price point of 249$ for the 20" model and 279$ for the 22" model. Both of them can be equipped with an optional chin-mounted speaker bar for 35$ more. |
