Lian Li is a Taiwan based personal computer chassis manufacturer. The company is one of the world's experts in the art of high quality computer cases. With parts sometime assembled by hand for outmost precision, Lian Li has a solid reputation in the digital era and continues to provide premium solutions for those who don't compromise when quality is at stake. One of the company's latest products is the TYR PC-X2000. It comes in the form if a full tower case with an extremely simple design, but at the same time showing great taste in style. Lian Li deserve some admiration for taking such a simple design and making it look astonishing. I'm not even sure exactly how they pulled it of. Describing the case probably won't make it justice, so you should really look at the pictures. Here goes nothing. The case is made of an aluminum alloy and has round edges together with a stylish look. Although its edges are round, the overall look is very sharp. Amazing. I guess the impressive look has to come from the hair-line brush anodized aluminum surface. The front of the case features a top to bottom diamond cut for a simple, but effective, visual effect. Let's take a look at the thermal design. Now I know I've said other manufacturers used intelligent thermal designs with their cases, but what Lian Li has is brilliance at its most impressive. The case is split into 3 heat zones. The bottom zone is where the most heat (if you have a lot of hard drives they are all held here) is generated so half of the case fans (6 in total) are used to accelerate air flow in this section. Next, there's the middle section, which is also covered by 3 bigger (140mm) fans. So, having a dual graphics card configuration won't be a problem. The top section doesn't have any fans since all the air will be vented by the PSU fan. Being a full tower case, the X2000 has space to spear and can fit an E-ATX motherboard with no problems at all. Some mid tower cases might have problems holding large graphic cards, but the X2000 can hold cards up to 34cm long. A total of 8 hot swappable hard drives can be fit at the bottom of the case. At a maximum of 1.5TB/drive, you should have no problems storage wise. As far as noise goes, it doesn't have a chance. Every detail of the X2000 has been customized for the most silent computing experience you could ever desire. Anti-vibration kits, insulation material, metal separators and anti-vibration PSU holder have all been retrofit to the Lian Li PC-X2000 in order to provide for true silent computing. I forgot about the rubber feet for vibration absorption. And if fans are not you're style, you can relax since the case comes with liquid cooling support. Well, I guess it's that time right? Time to mention the price tag. It's not a pretty picture. All this premium quality doesn't come cheap. The whole package costs more than most netbooks and even out price some notebooks and desktop PCs. With an average of $699.99, it's kind of a lot to ask for just a (extreme quality) case. |
