MSI is one of the leading manufacturers of computer hardware and consumer electronics worldwide. So it comes as no surprise that the company has released back in April 2008 an overclocked version of NVIDIA's GeForce 9800 GTX graphic processor, a GPU that even without overclocking is one of the best NVIDIA had to offer. The 9800 GTX card was designed to offer support for NVIDIA's Hybrid Technology.
The new graphic card provides some amazing features, designed to enable some serious gaming experiences. The GeForce 9800 GTX graphics card sports the new PCI Express 2.0 bus architecture featured in nForce 7 series motherboards, offering higher data transfer speeds. It is believed that if they run on a NVIDIA nForce 780i or 790i motherboard, the cards can offer a 2.8x performance increase compared to a single GPU. Also, using the NVIDIA HybridPower technology, your system will provide only the required performance, allowing a better low-power experience. The card, obviously supports Microsoft's API DirectX 10 and OpenGL 2.1
Providing 512 MB of GDDR3 memory, the clock speed of the card has been tweaked in order to achieve a graphic power of 700MHz, compared to the standard 675MHz. However, it seems that MSI has decided to play it safe and hasn't gone too far with the overclocking. The shader clock was also raised from 1688MHz to 1750MHz.
The card packs some pretty impressive graphic power, which will most probably help it render DirectX 10 games with higher quality. But gaming is not all this card is able to do. Multimedia systems can also benefit from its power, as it features NVIDIA's PureVideo HD technology. The card is sure to make some extreme enthusiasts or avid gamers consider an potential graphic card upgrade. |
