Scythe is a Japanese manufacturer that has been present on the American market since 2004. The company produces and develops cooling solutions and other desktop computer accessories. They can offer cooling devices for desktop CPUs, which are meant to provide support for both mainstream and enthusiastic users. One of their performance-rated CPU coolers is dubbed Scythe MUGEN.
Higher and more powerful cooling solutions are needed in order to ensure a stable and reliable working environment for some of the most powerful CPUs available today. This is mainly due to the fact that increased performance rates also brought to light a rise of the CPU TDP level. This issue is going to be resolved once the 45nm CPUs are going to take over what it is available today. The MUGEN CPU cooler has been manufactured to ensure a passive cooling solution for high-end desktop CPUs.
The first thing you will notice about the Scythe product is its enormous size, which makes it take a considerable amount of internal room space for a desktop computer system. The guys at Scythe have decided that this fan should be used by a several users, no matter what system configuration they might have. That is why the compatibility list for the MUGEN cooler is pretty large, as the cooler can be mounted on several Intel or AMD processors.
The great thing about the MUGEN cooler is that, if you decide it cannot cope with the minimum requirements of your CPU, you can also connect up to four 120mm fans which further increase the cooling performance. A single 120mm fan can run at speeds of 1200 RPM and can ensure an approximate air flow of 46.5CFM. The noise level of the fan is set at 23.5 dBA, which makes one wonder if four such fans mounted on the cooler aren't going to make themselves overheard.
This monster of a cooler has a price tag, according to the manufacturer's website, of nearly $60. |
