The IOGEAR company has release a very large number of connectivity-related products over the past couple of years, including here several USB hubs. And that's exactly the type of product we'll talk about as follows, namely the company's Mobile Hub, released in the second half of 2008, which has been designed especially for those users that spend quite a lot of time on the road.
As the company informs us, the Mobile Hub is a hybrid 3-Port USB 2.0 Hub and Mini-USB charging cable. It provides three High-Speed USB 2.0 ports with data transfer speeds of up to 480Mbps, and has been specially designed in order to allow them to connect easily, without any space-related problems.
Beside the three USB ports, the IOGEAR Mobile Hub also features one built-in 5-pin Mini-B USB connector for easier connection to any Mini-B USB device. The connector is designed for both data transfer and power charging for devices supporting Mini-B USB charging.
As far as the supported operating systems go, the IOGEAR Mobile Hub will most likely work with just about any operating system out there. However, the manufacturer only points out Windows 2000, XP, Vista and Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later, but given the very nature of this device, it's very likely that it will work with Linux OS's as well.
Furthermore, the hub will occupy a very small amount of space within the user's notebook bag or backpack, and that's because it measures just around 9.1 cm x 5 cm x 1.8 cm, and weighs solely 45 grams.
As expected, the IOGEAR Mobile Hub is quite an affordable product, selling for around 13 US dollars, which is, after all, a very small sum to pay for a device that could prove to be extremely useful to have in one's portable computing kit. |
