Although the X-710 and X-710F gaming mice from A4 Tech proved to be quite successful models, they had one major problem, namely the fact that they were designed as desktop mice and weren't very portable. This is the reason why the company released in April 2006 the X-710MF model, a device that keeps the advanced features of the previous two versions but offers them in a considerably smaller form factor.
Thus, the X-710MF measures just 9.9 cm x 6.09 cm x 3.63, at a weight of just 104.32 grams, thus being a very suitable solution for notebooks. Moreover, besides its size, the device offers enhanced customization options, since the buttons 2-5 can be programmed with up to 58 functions (or shortcuts) via the included software, while the intelligent 4th and 5th button provide forward and backward scrolling functions.
As mentioned earlier, the 710MF keeps everything that made its predecessors so popular. Thus, the peripheral allows the users to chose by themselves the resolution that bests suits them, since the 4 DPI Shift function permits both gamers and ordinary users to chose between 400, 600, 800 or 1000 DPI , the change of resolution being visible as the scroll wheel changes color between shifts.
The X-710MF model also includes A4 Tech's X7 extra speed optical engine that provides users with extremely accurate and extremely smooth cursor movements. The device is quite resilient to extensive use, as it the buttons support 8,000,000 presses, while the mouse itself supports up to 2.5 million meters traveled during its service lifetime. Moreover, the device works with all the OS versions from Microsoft, including Windows Vista.
The A4 Tech X-710MF mouse is available for around 12-15 US dollars, which is quite a small price to pay for such a portable and featured-packed device. |
