Although the large majority of its LCD PC monitors are targeting budget-conscious users, Acer has also launched over time quite a few models which provide premium features for demanding home users. And this is exactly the case with the company's P243W model from the P3 - Premium Home series, which offers users quite a large amount of desktop space, as well as numerous other useful and interesting features.
The most important selling point of the P243W is, quite obviously, its 24-inch TN LCD display, which also incorporates CrystalBrite technology, supposed to outperform normal glare and standard display with brighter images and superior contrast ratio with minimal ambient light scattering.
The display's other features are also quite impressive. Thus, the peripheral can reach resolutions of up to 1920 x 1200 pixels @60Hz and delivers 16.7 million colors (6+HiFRC), a brightness level of 400 cd/m2 and a 0.258 mm x 0.258 mm pixel pitch. It's also important to mention that the P243W offers a very good response time (2 ms), 160-degree viewing angles (both horizontal and vertical), a contrast ratio of 3000:1, as well as horizontal/vertical scanning frequencies of 30-82KHz and 56-76Hz.
The P243W provides a very pleasant surprise in the area of connectivity. Thus, beside the already usual VGA Analog and Digital DVI interfaces, the monitor also sports a HDMI connector (HDCP supported), which means that users can also connect other sources of HD signals to the display. Moreover, Acer does inform us that the device is compliant with VGA, SVGA, XGA, SXGA, VESA, NEC and Apple resolutions, which makes it quite versatile.
Furthermore, as an extra bonus, this particular model also comes packed with the Acer eDisplay application which not only enables the display to be managed and reconfigured remotely, but also supports automatic portrait format in pivot position, document zoning, PiP and OSD management.
The P243W is available at several retailers for around 450 US dollars, which is not exactly a very small price, but it's quite worth it, taking into account the fact that this is, after all, a premium-priced model. |
