The Brother company is one of the world's most important manufacturers of various printing solutions, both inkjet and laser. However, quite surprisingly, the company has released a relatively small number of laser copiers/printers, and this is exactly the type of device we'll talk about as follows, namely the DCP-9040CN, the entry-level model from the DCP-9000 series, launched back in November 2007.
The DCP-9040CN represents the basic model of the series and provides 21 pages per minute print speeds for both color and monochrome printing, and produce colorful, up to 2400 x 600 dpi output. They also feature built-in USB and Ethernet network connectivity and offer PCL6 and BR-Script3 (PostScript3 compatible) emulations.
Moreover, the device from Brother provides up to 17 cpm copy speed in both color and monochrome, copy reduction and enlargement from 25% to 400% in 1% increments, as well as a 35-page auto document feeder capacity and 300-sheet paper input capacity (includes 50-sheet multi-purpose tray).
Furthermore, it features a 2-line LCD display and also comes packed with 64 MB of built-in memory.
The DCP-9040CN supports scanning at interpolated resolutions of up to 19200 x 19200 dpi (1200 x 2400 dpi optical resolutions), sports an input color scan bit depth of 48 bits and can export scanned images in TIFF/BMP/MAX/JPEG/PDF file formats.
The copier/printer is compatible with a wide range of paper types, including here Xerox 4200DP 20 lb, Hammermill Laser Paper (24 lb), Xerox Premier 80 g/m², Xerox Business 80 g/m2, as well as sizes, namely Letter, Legal, Executive, A4, A5, B5, B6, A6 and Folio. Moreover, it can also be used for printing labels, namely Avery laser label #5160, Avery Laser Label L7163, as well as envelopes: Columbian 138 (COM10).
The Brother DCP-9040CN laser printer/copier retails for around 600 US dollars, which is a pretty good price to pay for this thing, taking into account its level of versatility and the improved work flow efficiency level it can provide. |
