Digital photography has almost completely rendered film photography obsolete over the past few years, with USB flash drives being one of the most popular solutions for carrying around photos. And this is exactly the reason why the people over at InnoDisk launched back in the second half of 2006 the Album Stick, a special “flavor” of USB flash drive that also offers enhanced photo viewing functions, beside relatively large storage capacities.
Thus, the device comes packed with a special software that allows users to view the stored photos in either slideshow or normal mode (or even set them as a screen saver), whenever the drive is connected to a computer. Moreover, users can also attach a text message to every photo (a maximum 90 words per message).
Furthermore, the drive sports an Auto-Play function for the users' favorite music, which allows them to associate a certain MP3 file with each album holder. The software also sports an user-friendly control interface forward, backward, pause, stop, play, mute, volume up and down, speed,
One of the most important features in the case of any portable storage solution is represented by the storage capacity, and the InnoDisk Album Stick offers a little something for everybody, as it is available in 256 MB, 512 MB, 1 GB, 2 GB, 4 GB and 8 GB versions (entry-level / mid-range/high-end, according to today's standards). As most other devices of this type available on the market, the drive connects to a host computer via an USB 2.0 interface, which means that it can attain data transfer speeds of up to 480 Mbps.
The device from InnoDisk is quite versatile, being compatible with the most popular operating systems around, namely Windows XP Professional / Home Edition, Windows 2000 Profession, Windows Me, Windows 98SE and Mac OS 9.0 and higher (probably Linux as well), which means that this thing will probably work with just about any computer out there. However, unfortunately, the manufacturer does inform us that the Album Stick software (which is, after all, the drive's most important selling point) only works under Windows XP. |
