Having a great keyboard might mark the difference between success and utter failure in gaming, and this is the reason why the number of dedicated gaming keyboards has virtually sky-rocketed over the past few years. And one of the most popular such devices comes from the peripheral experts over at Logitech, namely the G15 Gaming Keyboard, launched back in the second half of 2005, a device that provides users enhanced control options, as well a very interesting and useful extra: a built-in LCD display.
First of all, let's see what the respective LCD is all about. Thus, the GamePanel LCD display (as this component is officially called by Logitech) has the purpose of keeping the user informed during gaming sessions regarding certain game stats, and, more importantly, system information. Moreover, the panel is adjustable, which means that the keyboard can be easily carried around without any danger of damaging the display.
However, the keyboard also provides quite a large number of other features, as for example the backlit keys with three adjustable brightness levels, as well as the enhanced control options. Among these, the most important are the media keys, used for managing the audio and video playback right from the keyboard, as well as the 18 Programmable G-Keys that allow users to create up to 54 custom macros per game, even on the fly.
Beside the aforementioned features, the keyboard also sports a couple of cord channels in its underside, a feature that can prove to be extremely useful especially when dealing with a lot of peripherals. Moreover, the keyboard is compatible with the Windows XP and Vista operating systems, and retails for around 100 US dollars, which is quite an OK price to pay for such an advanced gaming device. |
