Philips has launched all sorts of consumer products over time, some of them more or less related to the world of computing. And one such product (directly related to computers) is the SPD5210CC/00 portable storage solution, a device that provides users with 80 GB of storage space in a very secure and tough external casing.
Thus, the device sports a sleek and elegant case, made from rubber and aluminum, which seems to be pretty sturdy and capable of taking quite a fair amount of shocks. Moreover, it's extremely effective in back-up operations, as it features a simplified automatic file back-up and synchronization system, accessible by simply pressing a button.
As mentioned earlier, the SPD5210CC/00 portable storage solution provides 80 GB of storage space. It's based on a 2.5-inch HDD, with a rotational speed of 4200 RPM and sports a cache memory of 8 MB. It connects via USB to a computing system, and can thus attain maximum transfer speeds of around 480 Mb/s. Unfortunately, the company doesn't provide any information regarding the device's access time.
Since we're talking about some high-capacity external drives, the devices in this series require an external AC adapter in order to work. They're also quite portable (212 mm x 266 mm x 82 mm, 0.23 kilos), and work with the Windows 2000 and Windows XP operating systems.
The SPD5210CC/00 HDD-based portable storage solution from Philips is available for around 185 US dollars, which seems to be quite a high price to pay for such a device, especially since there are other devices available on the market for similar price tags, but at higher storage capacities. |
