Although it's a fairly new name on the market, compared to some of its most important competitors, the Planar company has managed to come out with some pretty impressive products over the past few years, including a series of widescreen, fast and versatile LCD PC displays, gathered together in the company's high-end PX series. And this is exactly the type of device we'll talk about as follows, namely the top-range PX2611W model, which offers users a very large amount of desktop space, as well as numerous other interesting extras on the side.
Thus, the PX2611W has been equipped with a 24-inch LCD Active Matrix Flat Panel Display, which supports resolutions of up to 1920 x 1200 pixels and offers an 800:1 contrast ratio, as well as 16.7 million colors. Other important features worth mentioning regarding this particular display are the brightness level (500 cd/m2), the response time (rather average, just around 5 ms GTG with the RapidVideo accelerator), as well as the pixel pitch (0.2865 mm x 0.2865 mm).
Moreover, the viewing angles are also quite OK, namely 178 degrees horizontal and vertical, and the manufacturer also points out the fact that the panel sports an anti-glare and anti-reflection coating for high contrast in bright environments.
The device features DVI-D (HDCP-supported) and VGA video inputs and 4-Port USB 2.0 for flexible monitor setup. Furthermore, it has been equipped with Planar's ergonomic QuadStand with swivel, tilt and height adjustments. An extended 2.2 inches of height adjustment and 340 degrees swivel help reduce eye and neck strain, allowing each user to adjust the height of the LCD monitor to their exact comfort level for the best ergonomics.
Additionally, the device sports a 200x100mm VESA mount and a Kensington Security slot, but does require quite a hefty amount of power during normal operation, namely around 135 Watt.
The PX2611W can be found at several retailers for around 900 – 975 US dollars, which seems to be a fitting price, taking into account the features this thing has to offer. |
