In a world in which most companies rarely innovate, but usually release replicas of other companies successful products, it it good to know there are still companies like Callpod which work to develop their own solutions. As the company's portfolio suggests, this work leads to problem free devices that meet some of the highest quality standards. Callpod is keen on providing users with quality dependable conferencing devices. One of the company's wireless devices is not actually a communications device, but more of an means to an end. I'm talking about the Callpod Done which represents an advanced Bluetooth dongle. With modern looks and the shape of a regular size USB stick, the Drone offers a strong signal over a 100m range. The problem is that this range can only be achieved by using another Callpod certified headset. But non the less, if you're conferencing starts to go fuzzy it's sure not to be the receiver's fault. The interesting part about the Drone is the integrated software within the device. You see, Windows hasn't exactly been the Bluetooth firendly OS users thought it would be. So in order to take advantage of the A2DP profile (high quality wireless stereo) users usually had to install some not-so-friendly software that came with their Bluetooth dongle. I know I had to. The problem is that some of this software didn't really raise to user expectations. But here's where the Drone shines. It has the most needed Bluetooth profiles integrated and offers a truly Plug&Play experience. When it comes to aesthetics the Drone is not shy of looks. It sports a metallic like frame with a glossy black interior and an illuminated circle for informing the users about different states. For VoIP and music streaming there's no better friend than the Callpod Drone and it also comes with Mac and PC support. The Callpod Drone comes at a spicy price of $49.95 but in my opinion it's worth every penny. |
