The number of USB devices we're dealing with on a daily basis has skyrocketed lately, whether we're talking about USB flash drives, external HDDs, printers, scanners, etc. So, it's no wonder that accessing them (especially when they must be shared by two users) could prove to be a rather difficult thing to do, unless one uses a device similar to the one you're about to see as follows, namely the ShareCentral 5, presented by Kensington. The main role of the ShareCentral is to provide easier access to various USB devices between two different computers. The device offers a rather high level of versatility, since it is equipped with five USB 2.0 ports and supports various mounting options, including wall mounting. Moreover, it's completely plug-and-play, which means that users can simply take it out of the box and start using it right away. The ShareCentral 5 is actually extremely easy to operate, since all the users have to do is simply push a button in order to switch the various individual USB devices from one computer to the other. Additionally, the device from Kensington also offers an Automatic Printer Sharing function, allowing both computer to access the printer directly. However, in order to be able to enjoy this particular feature, both computers must be running either Windows XP or Windows Vista operating systems. Last, but certainly not least, it's important to mention the fact that the Kensington ShareCentral 5 is not exactly very easy to carry around (since it weighs just around 1.17 kilos). Plus, it will take little room from one's desk, as it measures 3.25 x 1.25 x 1.25 inches. Besides being so versatile, the ShareCentral 5 is not even that expensive, since it sells for around 80 US dollars, which will also get you all the necessary accessories, including here the power adapter and the two USB-to-miniUSB cables. |
