The fear of permanently losing one's critical data is an extremely important issue for a very large number of people nowadays, since such a loss could prove to be a total disaster for one's daily activities. And this is exactly the reason why the people over at SanDisk have launched the FlashBack Adapter, a device which could prove to be extremely useful for back-up activities.
One of the main selling points of the FlashBack adapter is its ease of use. Thus, all the users have to do is simply insert an SD(HC) memory card in the Flashback adapter and slide it inside a notebook's ExpressCard slot (34 mm version). Then they must install the backup application software, and after adjusting a few of the settings, the device will start to carry out automatic back-up operations of the specified files, directly on the inserted memory card.
Thus, the folders and files are automatically and continuously backed up immediately when new files are present and when changes are made to existing files and folders. Furthermore, users can always pre-select backup sources by individual files, folders and/or file types, while the device also offers a degree of encryption to protect backed up files against unauthorized access. And in order to provide an extra-level of safety for one's data, SanDisk is also offering the possibility of creating an online-account, a virtual “double” of the data stored onto the memory card.
The adapter also provides a range of useful restore features, namely the possibility of restoring individual files and folders or all files at once or the possibility of restoring data from the SD(HC) card on any other PC with Windows 2000/XP/Vista (SanDisk FlashBack Adapter not required). It's also interesting to note that the folder structure is maintained on the SD(HC) card and with the restored files & folders back on, while the deleted files & folders will be kept for up to 30 days on the backup card before permanent deletion.
The SanDisk FlashBack adapter can be purchased for around 30 US dollars, but in order to fully enjoy the advantages provided by this product, users must also activate the aforementioned online account, available for a small fee. |
