We live in an age of audio streaming and wireless connectivity, so there's a quite a serious level of demand on the market for devices that can carry out both the streaming and wireless transmission operations. And this is exactly the type of device we'll talk about as follows, namely the Transmita Vii, launched in the second half of 2007, a system that can be used for broadcasting audio streams wirelessly on relatively small distances.
The device transmits on the 2.400 GHz – 2.479GHz frequency range and 16 channels, has an RF output power of 10 dBm and features a maximum transmission range of around 50 meters. Furthermore, the quality of the broadcast sound is not too shabby, either, namely 44.1kHz, 16-bit, near CD quality, on the 20 ~ 20kHz frequency.
The Transmita Vii has been equipped with an USB interface, which can be used for providing the required audio signals, as well as for powering the device. And since we're on the subject of power, it's important to note the fact that the Vii incorporates rechargeable batteries, which provide around 6 hours of continuous use for the transmitter and around 8 hours for the receiver.
The Transmita Vii won't occupy too much space around the user's home, as it measures around 52 mm x 19 mm x 71 mm, at a weight of around 40 grams. Furthermore, for the situations when there's no USB interface available, the device has also been equipped with a mains adapter and a 3.5mm headphone adapter.
The Transmita Vii sells for around 100 US dollars, which can be considered a rather fair price to pay, taking into account just how useful and versatile this system could prove to be. |
