Knowing exactly what to expect in terms of weather when going outside is very important for a very large number of people, almost as important as knowing the time. And that's exactly the reason why the LaCrosse Technology company has released the Atomic Digital Wall Clock with Forecast & Weather, a device capable of delivering a very extensive range of information at quite a reasonable price tag.
As the name says it, the main function this device has to offer is that of an atomic clock, which means that it can provide the time in a very accurate manner, by tapping into the signals transmitted by various atomic clocks around the world. Furthermore, besides providing 12-hour time display, the device automatically updates for Daylight Saving Time (on/off option), can also be adjusted manually, sports a time-zone setting and even includes a perpetual calendar. Additionally, the device can also be used as an alarm clock, since it features a time alarm with snooze.
However, the device from LaCrosse Technology also provides a wide variety of other features on the side, mostly related to the display of various weather-related information. Thus, the digital wall clock also provides a weather forecasting function with 3 weather icons and weather tendency indicator, as well as a barometric tendency arrow. It can also monitor the indoor temperature and humidity (directly via the built-in sensors), as well as the outdoor temperature, via a wireless sensor which can be placed at a maximum distance of around 330 feet (100 meters).
The device will occupy a fairly small amount of space around the user's home, as it measures just around 11.75 x 12 x 1.25 inches. The external sensor ain't too big either, measuring just around 5.5 x 1.6 x 1 inches. Both components have some pretty modest power requirements, as the clock itself works with 3 AA batteries, while the wireless sensor requires 2 batteries of the same type.
As mentioned right from the start, the Atomic Digital Wall Clock with Forecast & Weather is not exactly what one could call a very expensive product, having a retail price of just around 75 US dollars, which makes it accessible for pretty much every consumer segment. |
