As an increasingly high number of people are going mobile nowadays, spending most of the working time on the road, en route from one location to the next, the need for devices designed especially to be used on the go has also become a lot more dire. And this is the reason why the people over at Adesso have launched back in the second half of 2007 the 19 Key USB Numeric Keypad and Optical Mouse, whose name is pretty much self-explanatory.
The two main functions carried out by this hybrid device are pretty straightforward, but we'll go through them one more time. Thus, first of all, this cross-gadget incorporates an 1000-dpi optical mouse, fitted with a big scrolling wheel, which can prove to be quite useful when it comes to surfing the Internet and scrolling down web pages.
The device also incorporates a keypad with 19 keys, which is covered by a flip top transparent cover that provides efficient and convenient access to the numeric keys. Furthermore, the hybrid's non-synchronization keys allow the owner to use the keypad and the normal keyboard as separate units, a feature that doesn't really seem to make any sense.
The Adesso 19 Key USB Numeric Keypad and Optical Mouse is designed to be used especially on the road, and this is the reason why it's not particularly bulky, measuring just around 12.07 cm x 5.71 cm x 3.81 cm, at a weight of around 226 grams (the packaged weight, which means that the actual device is probably a little lighter).
The device connects to a host computer via an USB 2.0 interface (1.5-meter cable), works with the Windows Vista/XP/2000/ME/98 operating system and retails for around 25 US dollars, which is quite a fair price for such an item, taking into account the features it has to offer. |
