Although it's just a wholesale retailer for the many Chinese companies involved in the manufacture of various inexpensive (and generally not exactly very high-quality) electronic devices, Chinavision has come with a few rather intriguing products over the years, which provide certain interesting functions and retail for a lot less that their Western counterparts.
And this is exactly the case with the device you're about to see as follows, namely the Skype Mouse VoIP Phone with Sliding Cover, a product that “brings together the best of two worlds”, so to say.
Thus, the device combines a standard 800 DPI Mouse and a VOIP phone and sports a special sliding cover for easier switching between the mouse and phone functions. Quite obviously, it's designed especially for those computer users who are hardcore Skype fans, and since it sports a backlit LCD screen, it will keep said users constantly informed regarding the contact details, time and call duration.
An interesting aspect of the Skype integration is the fact that it displays the service's menu directly in the language Skype is running under, a feature not so common among the other devices from this rather large family.
The device from Chinavision has also been fitted with an 1.5W speaker for high quality sound, as well as a small 20mW speaker that allows users to enjoy their privacy. Furthermore, it sports a built-in microphone, as well as an independent sound chip, which is in charge of controlling the softphone VoIP voice quality.
As the name says it, this device also sports a mouse function, but this specific feature is not particularly impressive, since the device includes a sensor with an optical resolution of just around 800 DPI, as well as 2 standard mouse buttons and a center scrolling wheel. Furthermore, the device connects to the host computer via an USB 2.0 interface, and works with the most popular Skype-compatible operating systems around, namely Windows 98/2000/XP. |
