The Taiwan-based Mio company has released a very large number of products over the past few years, each of them targeting certain specific segments of the consumer electronics market. And that's also the case with the particular model you're about to see as follows, namely the Mio Moov 310, a part of the company's Moov line, which includes just navigation-oriented products at affordable price tags.
Quite obviously, the display is an important issue in the case of Mio Moov 310. Thus, the PND has been equipped with a 4.3-inch touchscreen TFT LCD display, which supports resolutions of up to 480 x 272 pixels (QVGA) and displays the navigation maps in landscape mode. And since we're on the subject of maps, it's also important to mention that the device uses Tele Atlas maps.
Moreover, with the advanced Text-to-Speech engine, Mio Moov 310 will give users real-time directions as you drive that include the actual name of the street, freeway or exit that they're looking for. This leads to less looking down at the screen, fewer missed turns, etc., practically to a superior level of navigation accuracy.
We've seen what this baby can do (at least from the point of view of the functions), so it's about time to take a look at the technical specs. Thus, the Moov 310 is built around a rather common Samsung 2443 running at 400MHz, accompanied by 1 GB of RAM memory, both of these components being used for running both the Win CE.Net 5.0 operating systems and the MioMap2008 navigation software.
However, the navigation software would pretty much be useless if it weren't for the GPS chipset (20-channel SiRF StarIII w/InstantFixII), which offers quite an OK level of positioning accuracy, as well as the 720mAH Li-Ion battery, which supports an overall functioning life of around 2.5 hours.
The Mio Moov 310 is available at various retailers for around 250 US dollars, which makes it a pretty affordable product, compared to the other similar offerings available on the market. |
