Although Motorola is mainly known as a mobile phone and telecommunications' equipment manufacturer, the company has also launched over time quite a large number of accessories and additional products, meant to boost its sales, at least to some extent. That also seems to be the case with the MOTONAV TN30 GPS personal navigation device, launched back in the October 2008, which is designed especially to cater for the needs of entry-level consumers, rather that seasoned GPS users. The MOTONAV TN30 features a 4.3-inch touch-screen with at 480 x 272 pixels, as well as a built-in Bluetooth module, which allows drivers to make and receive hands-free calls with a compatible phone through the unit's internal speaker. The TN30 uses NAVTEQ navigation maps (viewable in 2D and 3D map perspectives) and features more than 4 million POIs. The device offers users a a wide-array of on-screen information, such as speed, distance, arrival time, elevation, and distance traveled, fastest and shortest route options, advanced lane guidance in complex interchanges and speed limit display with warnings. Furthermore, the device help drivers easily find their way using several route options, including recent destinations, saved favorite locations or plan a new route. Beside the Bluetooth interface mentioned earlier, the TN30 also sports a Bluetooth connector, used either for transferring information to the device or for charging its battery. Speaking of which, it's important to mention that the PND has been equipped with a rechargeable Li-Ion battery, which provides an estimated functioning life of around 2.5 hours. Plus, this thing won't even occupy that much space around the car, as it measures somewhere around 4.8 x 3.2 x 0.7 inches, at a weight of roughly 6 ounces. The Motorola MOTONAV TN30 GPS Navigation System sells for around 300 US dollars, which is a relatively OK price point, especially if we take into account the contents of the sales package: Car charger, Windshield mount, Dashboard mount, Quick start guide and User Manual DVD. |
