It's a very well-known fact that the popularity of GPS-enabled personal navigation devices has skyrocketed lately, triggering a huge flow of companies to enter this already overcrowded market. That's also the case with Ndrive, an European manufacturer, who has managed to come up with a few interesting products over time, including here the specific model you're about to see as follows, the feature-packed, mid-range priced G800.
The device from Ndrive has been built around a Centrality Atlas-III 372MHz CPU, accompanied by 64 MB of SDRAM memory, which is quite enough for running the Windows CE.NET 5.0 operating system, as well as the revolutionary NDrive navigation software, which allows users to view buildings and streets in 3D mode, using real aerial photography.
Moreover, the PND sports a rather standard display, namely a 4.3-inch digital TFT LCD touch panel, which delivers a resolution of up to 480x272 pixels and 65,536 possible colors.
Much in the same way as most other advanced PNDs on the market, the device also features a built-in multimedia player, compatible with some of the most popular formats around. Thus, the NDrive G800 works with WMA9, MP3, WAV audio files, WMV, AVI, ASF video files, JPG, GIF, BMP, PNG photos and even text documents in TXT format.
Given the extended level of file compatibility mentioned above, it's no wonder that the G800 offers all sorts of additional functions (beside navigation), including here the possibility to play music, video, watch photos, read e-book, plat games, etc. Moreover, it incorporates an FM transmitter, which means that users can broadcast their favorite songs from the PND directly to their car's audio system, as well as a Bluetooth receiver, which turns it into a speakerphone for the user's mobile phone.
And since we're on the subject of connectivity, it's important to mention that the G800 also features an SD card slot (for additional maps), as well as an USB 2.0 interface for connecting to a computer and a 3.5-mm stereo jack.
As mentioned earlier, the Ndrive G800 offers a pretty good ratio between the price and the provided features, so it's no wonder that it's price tag (around 350 Euro – 555 US dollars) is quite satisfactory, especially taking into account the fact that the sales package also includes a windshield mount, USB cable, car charger and all the necessary software and manuals. |
