In the era of gadgetry, none of the items that we have been accustomed to have around the house keeps its original functionality anymore. Thus, we can watch TV in the shower, talk on the phone that's incorporated in the microwave oven or listen to music coming from the speakers attached to the bed. We seem to want everything to include everything, that's why all of our belongings tend to become all-in-one gadget combinations. The Starry Night Sleep Technology Bed, by Leggett & Platt, is said to be the archetype of modern sleep, since it offers probably the most balanced combination of technology and bedding, so far, to create an intelligent, comfortable and intuitive environment. It is indeed a luxury bed, and its $50, 000 price tag stands for that, but unlike most beds in this category, the Starry Night Sleep Technology Bed is actually proved to have beneficial effects on the human body, while still entertaining its owners. It touts anti-snore technology to reduce snoring in mild to moderate cases by elevating your upper body a few degrees. Its dual programmable temperature control from 68 to 117 degrees Fahrenheit (20 to 47.2 degrees Celsius) adjusts the temperature to your liking. The Sleep Diagnostic Center monitors body movement and breathing pattern throughout the night and if you need music in order to fall asleep, this high-tech bed has it covered, as it comes with an iPod docking station 2500-watt surround sound system with four 8-inch sub woofers. But not even that's all, because the Starry Night Sleep Technology Bed's specs include Internet connectivity, wireless RF remote that connects to a 1.5TB media server with four gigs of RAM, and a 1080p projector. The downside of the Starry Night Sleep Technology Bed? It sells for the price of $50, 000 and it is set for public availability only in the first half of 2009. |
