Massage chairs have become quite popular over the past few years, as they allow users to enjoy a very relaxing massage even when they're at the office, without having to visit a specialized parlor in order to do so. However, most such devices are powered directly from the mains, which means that the user's freedom of movement is somehow limited.
Or so it happened so far, but not anymore, thanks to the Cordless Rechargeable Massage Chair, presented by Hammacher Schlemmer back in the second half of 2007, a device that will provide both a very relaxing massage experience and a wider range of use.
Thus, the device is powered by a rechargeable battery, transforming any chair into a gentle vibrating massage platform for the back and hamstrings during prolonged periods of sitting on an airplane, at work, or while driving. Six vibrating motors throughout three massage zones deliver a deep massage, while an integrated heating element relieves stress and facilitates blood flow throughout the back and hamstrings.
Furthermore, an attached handheld controller allows users to select a preferred massage intensity, focus on a specific area (upper back, lower back, or hamstrings), and turn on the heating element. The massage and heat functions can be used simultaneously or independently and the unit can deliver a constant or pulsating massage.
The device is quite portable as well, since the pad (which measures 0.91 meters x 0.45 meters, at a weight of around 1.36 kilos) folds in half, and the integrated shoulder strap ensures ease of transport. The device lasts up to seven hours after an eight-hour charge, and includes a charging base and car adapter.
The device from Hammacher Schlemmer retails for around 250 US dollars, which is a bit much, but it's worth it, taking into account the features this thing has to offer. |
