There are many big names in the world of audio&video and Sennheiser is certainly one of them. As a Germany-based company, Sennheiser is an expert in microphone technology and wireless sound transmission. The company is well-known for its high quality series of headphones and microphones. One of the company’s latest products before the dawn of 2008 is the VMX 100 Bluetooth Headset. As the name suggests, this is a wireless headset typically used in conjunction with mobile phones. All you need in order to use it is a Bluetooth enabled phone, since the device is compatible with almost any handset ou there. Plus, it can also be used as a Skype communications device for a higher degree of freedom. The Bluetooth headset sports a few interesting features, among which the most impressive seems to be the VoiceMax Dual Microphone technology. This is a proprietary Sennheiser tech used to capture sound with higher fidelity so that the caller on the other end receives crystal clear acoustics. For easy removal and packing, the device features a 3D ball joint, which also allows for comfortable custom fits without using any special adapter. When the headset is “closed” (the joint is rotated so that the device is more compact), the VMX also shuts itself down in order to conserve battery power. Something we haven’t seen on any other headset is the ActiveGuard feature, which is used to protect the user from sudden, loud bursts. Most of us have experienced such discomforts an it's very unlikely that anybody wants to endure such an ordeal too often. The VMX 100 offers 5 hours of continuous talk time after a full charge, or 100 hours of standby and comes with a symmetric design, which allows it to be used on either ears. The headset comes with Bluetooth 1.1, 1.2 and 2.0 compatibility and is sold for a price of $159.99. |
