As far as networking-related products are concerned, you can easily split the manufacturers into two halves: on one hand, you have monsters such as Cisco or Allied Telesyn, which produce very good hardware but with an equally matched price, while on the other hand you have more SOHO-oriented producers such as Netgear, D-Link or Zyxel.
One of Zyxel's latest product lines has extended the already available broadband router segment to new heights. Just take a look at one of their latest routers, called P-334, and you will understand why you need such a device. Zyxel's latest Broadband Sharing Gateway series is an ideal solution for multiple home and office users to access the Internet using the existing ADSL or cable modem.
Users will only have to pay for only one account for shared broadband access, enabling a single IP accessing to a whole new range of multi-user networked applications. ZyXEL's breakthrough PPPoE technology preserves the existing dialup environment to facilitate ADSL or cable modem usage while at the same time it offers full NAT routing and a functional DHCP protocol for the internal network.
Aside from that, the P-334 can work with any type of internal RJ-45 connector, but in the same time it also offers a fully capable wireless design. The wireless module can work in G mode and with the help of a simple tool you can use the AP in order to obtain access to an 802.11 G signal in the 2.4GHz working range.
Price-wise, the Zyxel P-334 is a pretty cheap device, costing as much as $50. In any case, if you're not satisfied with the hardware, you can always choose an equivalent product from Netgear or D-Link and pay at least $100 for it. |
