Motion Computing is a North-American company headquartered in Austin, Texas, that deals mainly with the development of slate-shaped tablet PC's. The company was launched in 2002 by a group PC industry veterans that had experience with companies like Dell, Apple, Compaq, Fujitsu and others.
In March 2007, Motion Computing released a new version of its flagship slate Tablet PC, the LE1700, thus bringing some innovations to the Tablet PC industry. Motion Computing offers, with the new Tablet PC, two versions of the LE1700, namely a standard LE1700 and LE1700 WriteTouch. The LE1700 WriteTouch employs a new technology from an Israeli company named N-trig, that supports a integrated-dual-mode electrostatic digitizer, which will allow the user to input data both through a stylus pen and a finger. The same technology will try to not to mistake your palm for a touch.
On the technical part, Motion Computing has always tried to give its Tablet PCs the latest in mobile technology. The LE1700 is built on an Intel-based platform, with the customer being able to choose from either an Intel Core 2 Duo or a Core Solo processor. The integrated Intel 945GM Express chipset and the Intel GMA 950 graphic card offers support for connectivity and graphic power with somewhat similar stats as some of the industries notebooks.
The LE1700 features everything you will need from a Tablet PC as far as security is concerned, with an integrated fingerprint reader, a TCG Trusted Platform Module (TPM) and an Universal lock slot. The users can also choose what their Tablet PCs will be encase in, with either a Polycarbonate or Magnesium Alloy variant. The 12.1 inch tablet, which can offer resolutions of up to 1400x1050, is as light as most devices in its category, with a maximum of 4.3 lbs, if the system has an extended battery.
The price for Motion Computing's LE1700 is set anywhere between $1500 to $3300, depending on the available configuration. |
