Almost anyone, at some point in our lives, have dreamed endlessly about getting that head-turner of a car, namely a Ferrari. Well, even if, for most of us, a Ferrari car is just something to dream about, a Ferrari notebook will please some users and make them think they are part of the Ferrari culture.
Acer, one of the big names in system building, has brought to light in the second half of 2006 the Ferrari 5000 Laptop. The collaboration between Ferrari and Acer dates back to 2003, when Acer became the official supplier of the team and began developing and selling Ferrari notebooks. Acer Ferrari series, one of the three series of laptops from Acer, are AMD-based portable systems that distinguish themselves through the Ferrari logo and colors.
The Ferrari 5000 laptops are built using the AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile Technology and the ATI Radeon Xpress 1150 chipset. Much in the same ways as the Ferrari 4000 series, they feature a 15.4-inch display, but using a WSXGA+ high-brightness Acer CrystalBrite LCD technology, powered by a ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 with HDMI output. The maximum memory can go up to 4 GB of DDR2 running at 667 MHz and the data storage space can go up to 160 GB. Wireless support is available, using the 802.11 a/b/g/n standard, for this 6.6 lbs notebook.
A camera and built-in microphone will provide the communication tools needed for ultimate mobility along with the combo HD DVD-ROM or DVD-Super Multi DL. The price for the Ferrari 5000 Laptop is in the 2000$ zone and comes with a Windows Vista operating system. |
