Hewlett-Packard (or HP, for short), is one of the largest and best-known manufacturers of various computing systems and accessories on the market, the company launching a huge number of products from just about all of the segments over the past couple of years. So, it's actually no wonder that the company has tried to capitalize on the growing popularity of digital photo frames and launched its own version of such a device, offering an 8-inch diagonal and some other basic features at a very convenient price point. As in the case of most other products of this type, the display is actually the most important selling point of the digital photo frame from HP (product code KJ154AA#ABA). As mentioned earlier, the display has an 8-inch diagonal, displaying images in 4:3 aspect ration, with a 800 x 600 pixels resolution and a 400:1 contrast ratio. Plus, it offers quite an OK brightness level of a device of this type, namely 220 cd/m2. The amount of internal memory provided by the digital frame from HP is not exactly fantastic, since we're only dealing with an 128 MB flash module, which is capable of storing up to 149 2-Megapixel photos. However, like most other similar devices available on the market, this one also incorporates a memory card reader, which works with CompactFlash, Memory Stick Pro, MultiMediaCard, Secure Digital, and xD-Picture Card formats. Beside the memory card reader, the digital frame has also been equipped with an USB 2.0 port, which allows users either to transfer photos from/to an USB flash drive or connect the device to a host computer. As in the case of any USB 2.0 interface, the maximum transfer speed that can be attained is of 480 Mbps. As mentioned right from the start, the price of the digital frame from HP is actually pretty good, of around 150 US dollars, which makes it quite an affordable product for all amateur photographers out there. |
