If someone made a list of all the worthy of mentioning electronics companies I'm sure Samsung would most certainly be on that list. The company has been developing high quality AV devices for years and is the leading provider on the LCD market. While not many of its products have made it as far on the road of fame as the iPod did, the company's line of audio players has always been in pretty good shape with a wide range of devices designed to fit various needs.

One of its most sophisticated solutions when it comes to mp3 players is the YP-Q1. It comes in a candy-bar like shape with a very sleek and serious design. To further emphasize its design, Samsung placed a diamond shaped control area with blue leds in the corners giving off a pretty cool fading effect.

The look and feel of the device are also improved by the use of software. Rhythmizer is the feature that will provide the YP-Q1's screensaver and LED illumination to fit the user's music. Movies and pictures compliments the generous 2.4” display are also welcome for those boring times when music just won't cut it anymore. And if you're always on the run and can't spare a couple of hours to watch your favorite TV shows (and if those shows happen to be on BBC) you can download them from the BBC iPlayer and watch them on the go.

Audiophiles will appreciate the DNSe 3.0 function and integrated equalizer. DNSe 3.0 is used to restore higher frequencies in your mp3 and aac audio tracks. Mp3 and AAC formats use a lossy compression algorithm and which sometimes results in slighter lower audio quality. The DNSe feature is here to take care of that and provide music listeners with rich and high quality sound.

The YP-Q1 has two more interesting features. One is used to playback audio tracks at various speeds without any sound distortion, and the other is the Text to Speech algorithm, which can read any text in several languages and then convert it into mp3.

As most trends these days, the Samsung YP-Q1 comes in three flavors: 4, 8 and 16GB versions. The 16GB edition comes with a $179.99 price tag.
