In a world crowded with all sorts of MP3 players, Maxfield's current top of the line dedicated unit, the Max-Ivy 4GB, sports some extremely interesting features, and that is rather surprising considering that it's manufactured by a relatively new player in the industry.
As usual, the first thing that catches the eye is the design line, which in this case is very appealing. The unit's components are housed in a black, ultra-slim, scratch-proof (but not fingerprint proof) magnesium casing, which uses a stylish touch screen pad.
Since design would be nothing without some solid specifications, Maxfield has put a lot of emphasis on the technical part. Moreover, the unit is able to play almost any type of media files (with some exceptions), which includes MP3, WMA, WMA-drm 10, OGG, JPG and MPEG-4. This means that you have high-quality audio, video and still image playback all in one carefully crafted package.
In order to enjoy an image or a video file you need a good display and sadly, this MP3 player is not too shabby in this regard either. The Max-Ivy exhibits a 1,8 inch TFT-display with 65,000 colors and a 128 x 160 px resolution. As for its sound quality, Maxfield claims its unit features a signal to noise ration of over 90dB, an excellent value, which will satisfy most audiophiles. The device also comes with 4 equalizer presets, X-bass and user equalizer for excellent control over bass, mids and treble levels.
The Max-Ivy does not have any super cool features, but it does have a built-in microphone that enables voice recording. All these features and treats had a significant impact on the price, as 4GB of Max-Ivy is being available for close 180 English pounds.
And for those who think the price is a little bit steep there's also a 1GB and a 2GB version, available for 96 pounds and 120 pounds, respectively. |
