Media pointers or presenters are extremely useful devices, since they help users bring a sense of clarity when making presentations in front of a large audience. And that's the reason why the people from Genius have launched in May 2006, the Media Pointer, a professional presenting tool that also offers users time management functions.
Thus, the Media Pointer features 2.4GHz wireless technology, time management and media mode functions. It works within a 15-meter range and sports an anti–interference function that allows the users to move around in an auditorium while presenting, without worrying that their signal might be cut off.
The device also sports a built-in LCD timer with a beep that alerts users when 30 seconds are left and when their alloted time is up, thus allowing them to manage their time easier. Moreover, the device's LCD display also shows battery life, so the users will know beforehand when it's time to change the batteries.
The Media Pointer from Genius has two modes, presentation and media, and offers a handful of useful functions, as for example “Laser Pointer”, “Volume up/down”, “Next/Previous track”, “Fast backward/forward”, “Play/Pause”, “Page up/down”, “ESC”, and “F5”. It can thus be used for various purposes, either as a simple pointer or as a media remote.
The device works with 2 AAA batteries and transmits on the 2.4 GHz RF frequency. It's also quite portable and ergonomic, and even sports a storage space for the wireless receiver. It works with the Windows 2003/XP/2000/Me/98SE and Mac OS X or higher operating systems, so it can be used with just about any computer.
The Media Pointer from Genius is available in the $35 - $43 price range, which seems to be a quite a small price for such a device, as media presenters are generally a lot more expensive. |
