The PSP from Sony is one of the best known portable gaming consoles currently available on the market, but, as most of the company's products, it does have its problems, one of the most notable being the lack of a FM tuner. This is the reason why the Griffin company, specialized in the development of various accessories for portable devices, has launched an external device meant to compensate the aforementioned problem, namely the iFM Radio Tuner and Remote Control for the PSP.
The iFM features a large, easy to read LED for FM tuning, an attachment clip which increases the level of comfort during use, as well as a pass-through port for headphones. Moreover, it comes packed with several very important functions for controlling the media content, thus allowing the users to enjoy their favorite music, whether it's stored in the PSP's internal memory or it's received via FM waves.
The strictly audio-related functions of the device from Griffin are also quite impressive. Thus, the iFM has an audio frequency response range between 20Hz – 15kHz, with 16 volume steps and providing a maximum power output of 20 mW (into each of the 32 ohm speakers). The maximum signal-to-noise ratio is of 57 dB, while the stereo separation is of 27 dB. Moreover, the total harmonic distortion is of 0.4 percent.
The Griffin iFM PSP radio tuner sells for around 33 US dollars, which is not that high a price, given just how useful this thing could prove to be for those people who really want to listen to their favorite radio stations on their PSP. |
