This silver shiny CD and MP3 player with 120-second anti-shock protection is part of Memorex electronics portfolio. It's true, there is nothing spectacular about it, absolutely nothing. In fact, thing couldn't get worse than this. It features a round shaped form, a dull control scheme and an integrated screen display, which is so small it can barely be noticed.
Needless to say, some critics have immediately associated the MP3 player with Apple's iPod shuffle, a
rather unfair way to compare the two different styles of the players. Regardless, the device can double itself as a CD, a CD-R/-RW, as well as MP3 file formats. In addition, the 2-line text LCD looks rather Jurassical.
There is no doubt this player's main advantage is its extremely portable size of about 5.5 x 5.5 x 1.0 inches, which basically means you could actually loose this fellow in your jeans pockets. But, let's face it, whoever might be interested in purchasing this kind of device, must not be into too much gadgetry, therefore he/she will surely not need more than the embedded 512 MB storage capacity, enough for let's say 124 tunes in MP3 kbps format.
The Memorex CD/MP3 player comes packed with some extra features, like the AM/FM tuner and the 25-track programmable CD memory. The 120 second anti-shock offers protection in MP3 mode, and about 45 in CD mode. Memorex has also added a bass-boost sound enhancement to go better with the sound bites. A repeat option is also included in the player's control scheme.
When it comes for the player's capacity, it cannot do any impressive stuff, just the common MP3, without any WAV file format reading. The Memorex gets powered via two AA batteries, claimed to last up to 10-12 hours on a single charge. And yup, that's about pretty much the player can do, so you shouldn't be surprise if you won't find any cool extra option like a green lantern or an altimeter integrated in the device. Not to mention the official product web site also lacks a lot of info in the matter.
Want to buy one of these? Then you should know there is no official word on the price tag and availability details, but hey, it looks like an under 100 bucks portable device. So...it's up to you! |
