The people over at Mustek have released quite an impressive number of digital photo frames over the past few years, in an attempt to capitalize on the customers' increased level of interest for this category of devices. And one such product is the PF-D240, released back in the first half of 2008, which provides no less than 5 different functions included in the same basic device.
As expected, the main feature of the PF-D240 is represented by the 2.4-inch TFT LCD panel, capable of providing a 240 x 320 pixels resolution (which is not great at all, but, then again, we're talking about a rather "petite"display, so it's understandable).
The level of versatility provided by the PF-D240 is also rather questionable, as the photo frame is designed to work solely with JPEG photos and MP3 audio files, played back via the photo frame's 1W speakers.
One of the biggest disappointments of the PF-D240 is the one related to the connectivity options. First of all, the PF-D240 doesn't have any internal memory (a definite minus), and the data transfer interfaces are not exactly fantastic either, consisting solely of an MMC/SD card reader and an USB 2.0 port, which support transfer rates of up to 480 Mbps.
Nevertheless, as mentioned earlier, the main "gimmick" or "selling point" of the PF-D240 is not necessarily related to the photo viewing options, but rather to the extra-function provided by this device. Thus, the digital photo frame also incorporates an alarm clock, an FM radio and, for some reason, a thermometer.
Mustek has not provided any significant info regarding the pricing of the PF-D240, but this device shouldn't be that expensive, considering the features and specs it can provide. |
