The popularity of digital photo frames has been on quite an ascending trend over the past few years, and this is the reason why the number of manufacturers who have come up with such products has also increased. And one such company is Mustek, who, among many other products, also released back in the first half of 2007 the PF-D852AM model, which provides what could be called a basic set of functions for this family of products.
The display is, quite obviously, the most important part of any digital frame, and this is also where we'll start our description. Thus, the device from Mustek has been fitted with an 8-inch TFT LCD panel, which allows users to view photos at resolutions up to 800 x 600 pixels and at a 4:3 aspect ratio.
Moreover, the device is compatible with a relatively wide array of file formats, including here JPEG, MP3, Xvid, Motion-JPEG, which means that the PF-D852AM can also function as a media player. This is most likely also the reason why the photo display has been equipped with two 1-watt speakers.
Furthermore, the device incorporates 128 MB of built-in Flash memory, which can be used for storing quite a serious number of photos. Moreover, in order to get the respective pictures into the memory, the digital photo frame has also been equipped with an USB 2.0 port, but also with a memory card reader, which works with the most commonly-encountered memory card formats on the market, including here SD, MMC, CF, MS, MS Pro, MS Duo, xD.
Another interesting feature of the PF-D852AM is the fact that it has also been equipped with a TV out interface (both NTSC and PAL compatible), which means that users can hook it up to a TV set and view the photos stored in its memory. And to top it all, the device also incorporates a clock with calendar.
The PF-D852AM retails for around 180 US dollars, which is quite an OK price to pay for this thing, all things considered. |
