One could say that the Japanese over at Nintendo have really struck gold with their portable gaming console, the DS, and especially its “slimmer” version, the DS Lite. As we all know, the device offers a lot of connectivity options, besides its main function, but it also has some problems, the most important being, in certain users' opinion, the lack of an FM tuner.
However, the very inventive people over at Brando have created a little accessory that takes care exactly of this problem, namely the NDS Lite FM Radio Converter, an FM tuner capable of receiving radio programs broadcast on the 87.5MHz-108MHz frequencies (Stereo FM signal) and “forward” them to the DS' own sound system. The quality of the sound is also quite good, the device having a S/N ratio of 43 db.
Moreover, following Nintedo's policy, the device is extremely easy to setup and use, especially since all the control buttons are placed in a very visible and accessible position, right underneath the LCD display.
Since it's designed especially to work with the DS Lite, the NDS Lite FM Radio Converter is equally portable, as it measures just around 47.2 x 57.1 x 12.33, at a weight of around 19.5 grams.
The NDS Lite FM Radio Converter from Brando is an extremely affordable product, selling for around 14 US dollars, which does raise some question marks regarding its overall quality. |
