Over time, the people over at Universal Remote Controls have launched quite an extensive product line-up, releasing various products that help users control a much wider range of devices than any “mere” remote would ever be able to. And one such item is the TX-1000 model, launched way back in the second half of 2003, a device that provides certain very important control functions, in quite an attractive package.
Thus, the TX-1000 model is an activity-based unit, which can be used for activating whole sequences of events, or activities, rather than controlling a single device. Moreover, the device sports quite a large memory (8 MB of built-in Flash allow up to 40 devices to be created with up to 40 pages per device), and has also been fitted with a bright, easy to read touch screen LCD display, which is used for accessing directly the functions provided by the remote control.
The touch screen displays exactly the number of buttons required by the user, and features text labels that can be customized up to six characters. Moreover, it includes a multicolored backlighting system, ensuring the fact that the touch screen can be used in the total darkness of a home theater with one touch to the LIGHT button.
Beside the aforementioned buttons, the device also features two very important control elements, namely the WATCH and LISTEN buttons, which are used for displaying the activities that can be controlled via the MX-900. Thus, whenever an user wants to watch something (a DVD movie, a videotape or a HDTV broadcast), all he/she has to do is simply press the WATCH button and select the new activity. On the other hand, when the users want to listen to the radio or to a CD, all they have to do is touch the LISTEN button and select the audio signal source.
The device also features advanced learning capabilities, of up to 255 steps each, and provides macro capabilities, working on the 15kHz to 460kHz frequencies. The TX-1000 universal remote control is available at various retailers somewhere in the $249.00 - $499.95 price range, which can't be considered a very exaggerated price, taking into account everything that this device has to offer. |
