Toshiba is involved in most segments of the consumer electronics market, including here that of portable media players. And one of the company's most impressive family of such products is represented by the T-Series, whose models offer large viewing areas, mainstream storage capacities as well as numerous other goodies on the side.
Thus, all of the products from this family feature 2.4-inch LCD TFT displays, which deliver up to 262,144 colors and provide resolutions of up to 320 x 240 pixels. The players also sport an innovative plus-shaped control button (the PlusPad) that lets you navigate the easy-to-understand menu and get to the option you desire fast and easy.
Pretty much as anyone would expect from such advanced media players, the T-Series from Toshiba work with a relatively wide variety of file formats, including here MP3, WMA, WMA Lossless, WAV, and can also be used for viewing photos in JPG format.
Another interesting fact worth mentioning about these players is that they come packed with a pretty powerful Li-Ion battery, which offers an average functioning time of around 16 hours (audio mode) or 5 hours (video mode).
Unfortunately, the storage space provided by the T-400 (the flagship model, at least for the time being) is not exactly fantastic, since we're talking about solely 4 GB of NAND flash memory, which is enough to hold around 1000 songs in WMA format. Furthermore, we should also mention the fact that the players connect to a host computer running Windows XP SP2 or higher via an USB 2.0 interface.
The 4 GB model from Toshiba's Gigabeat T-Series can be purchased for around 113 US dollars, which is a pretty fair price, taking into account the fact that this sum will also get you a mini-USB cable, a pair of earbuds and a CD containing the user's manual and some useful software applications. |
