Over the years, the German company Trekstor has managed to come up with a very interesting lineup of various portable music solutions, each of them targeting certain specific market segments. And that's also the case with the device you're about to see as follows, namely the i.Beat sonix model, released back in the second half of 2007, a device more or less related to the i.Beat cody model, but with a few very important differences.
Thus, first of all, this model offers a smaller diagonal size (just 2.4 inches, which translates into an overall viewing surface of 49 mm x 37 mm), but the resolution (320 x 240 pixels) and the number of colors (262000) is pretty much the same as in the case of the cody.
Furthermore, it's also interesting to note that the i.Beat sonix is available in 1 GB, 2 GB and 4 GB flavors, which is not exactly fantastic, especially in a world dominated by 16 and 32 GB models. Unfortunately, the sonix doesn't provide any memory expansion solutions either, which is a bit of a minus.
The portable player from Trekstor offers multiple playback features, including here User-defined, Jazz, Classical, Normal, Pop, Rock equalizer settings, Normal, Repeat song, Repeat all songs, Shuffle, support for ID3 tags and a very precise resume function. And if you want even more music, you can always tune into your favorite radio-station via the built-in FM tuner.
Since file compatibility is a very important issue for any portable player, the i.Beat sonix manages to keep up with most of its competitors, as it works with MP3, WMA, WAV, OGG audio files, AVI movie files and even WMA-DRM10 files, the most common in the case of music download services. Moreover, the player can also be used for viewing digital photos in JPEG or BMP formats, as well as documents in TXT format.
Moreover, it's important to note that none of the aforementioned features would actually work without the player's incorporated Li-Ion battery, which offers a maximum operating time of around 12 hours.
The i.Beat sonix can be found for up to 100 Euro at several retailers, which makes it a pretty interesting choice for most users, given the features and specs it can provide. |
